OUR MISSION

The Other Side Movement, a 501C-3 non-profit organization based in South Florida, is committed to help transform the mindsets of youth in inner city and at risk communities with high rates of crime and violence. We will accomplish this by illustrating how choices made at a young age can take away their freedom and have long lasting negative consequences. The O.S. Movement will help youth make better choices in their lives by creating awareness through our campaigns. Through the programs offered by our organization we would like to see a reduction in negative peer pressure and create an atmosphere where it is popular to be a leader. Addressing the social, emotional and intellectual needs of vulnerable youth, while promoting integrity, dedication, and compassion, The Other Side Movement, Inc. is an empowering support resource for youth in inner city and at risk communities throughout the country. In order to reach our target demographic we are collaborating with other organizations to create awareness campaigns using social media, radio and television campaigns, recording studio, after school curriculum, as well as children’s story books, clothing lines, branding to marketing and promotional collateral and other activities designed to reach those most at risk. Some of these other activities will include providing opportunities to create music that conveys positive messages rather than the current popular music, videos and movies which romanticizes guns, violence and drugs. We will work with children in at risk communities to create short films and PSA commercials highlighting the importance of making positive decisions.

To accomplish our organization’s objectives which are stated in the previous section, The Other Side Movement, Inc. will use the following methods. It was designed to follow this course of action based on the expertise of the organization’s Founder, its Board of Directors and the success of similarly structured organizations and programs.

Currently our organization is focused on increasing awareness of the issues facing youth in at risk communities with high rates of crime and violence, as well as the long lasting negative consequences that can result from poor decision making. We will accomplish this through media campaigns that will provide positive messages and encourage youth to make the right choice rather than the popular choice.

We will accomplish our organization’s goals by partnering with other organizations that are currently operating in our target community and providing quality services. While working with these other organizations we would like to create an atmosphere where it is popular to be a leader and positive peer pressure replaces negative peer pressure.

One organization we have partnered with currently is the Arts to Literacy (ATL) program, which works with children in at risk communities to create short films and television commercials highlighting the importance of making positive decisions.

The Other Side Movement will work closely with existing organizations to form collaborative efforts to address the needs of at risk communities. Over time as our organization grows we will continually look for new opportunities to work with other organizations which are already doing quality work in at risk communities and with at risk youth.

We will turn crack houses into “Life Houses” and the life house will be a hub in the community and the activities will include, but are not limited to, youth mentoring and tutoring programs, father and son workshops, gun buyback campaigns, The O.S. Movement Boot Camp and it will house a memorial wing to remember those innocently slain in the community by gun violence. Through our organization’s programs we are committed to building self-esteem and teaching valuable life skills to all those we work with. We hope to address social influences and create a positive movement where making the right choice is cool and peer pressure is greatly reduced.  We are committed to making a long term and lasting change in the way people think to build a better and safer society for all.

The Other Side Movement, Inc. looks forward to providing the highest quality services possible with the funding we have available. All programs will be staffed by well trained and qualified personnel who have expertise in their particular service area. The Executive Director will oversee all staff and client interaction, while continuously employing his years of training and experience. Overall, the organization aspires to encourage better decisions from all members of our society regardless of age, race or gender.

The Other Side Movement, Inc. is working hard to rapidly establish a strong basis of obtaining funding for the programs we offer. Our organization will survive from year to year through our financial efficiency and stewardship of the funding we obtain. The organization is confident in its ability to receive ongoing funding for its programs, and is expected to have the support of the community and like-minded foundations for its continuous support.  In addition the organizations Board of Directors will increase the amount of unrestricted funds for our organization through direct mail requests, the solicitation of corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events.

In upcoming years The Other Side Movement, Inc. will seek to obtain continuation grants from both foundations and corporate sponsors in an effort to continually provide the highest quality services possible.  We will also be developing positive music and clothing, as well as other merchandise items, under the organization’s name.  The sale of these items will serve as a tool for generating revenue for our current programs, as well as the implementation for additional programs.  To this point the organization has been primarily funded by its board of directors.  During the upcoming years the growth rate of the individual donor base is expected to increase exponentially.  In-kind donations will provide an additional source of revenue for all programs.
