ROLAND ATHOURIS - Executive Director

A graduate of Samford University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and The Arts.  He has worked with fortune 500 companies to deliver elegant marketing solutions such as Home Depot, Lowes, K-mart and many more.  With that experience it allowed him to become a successful businessman for over two decades.  He led and founded a reputable marketing and design firm in Miami, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia.  Mr. Athouris was responsible for organizing, publishing, marketing, and branding concepts for well known businesses, authors, and non-profit organizations.  The firm has been recognized for its success in the  Miami Times, Miami Herald, and Atlanta Business Journal. Mr. Athouris brings entrepreneurial energy to all endeavors.  He spent over 10 years as a life coach creatively managing over 20,000 individuals through trainings, certifications, and workshops to become entrepreneurs, and due to his success was featured in Success from Home Magazine for two consecutive years.  Raised in Liberty City located in Miami, Florida, which is known as a troubled area, he understands the difficulties that our youth are faced with in the 21st century.  Mr. Athouris have always had a passion to foster and develop the lives of young men, and he saw the need to bridge the gap between the choices and decisions that our youth make today.  Because of his dedication to his community and his faith, after becoming licensed and ordained, he served as an executive pastor and volunteered as a head football coach for little league teams in several communities, from Pahokee, Carol City, Miramar, and Pembroke Pines, Florida.  This resulted in the creation of The Other Side Movement in 2009. Its mission is multi-faceted in its approach, tackling major life/death issues plaguing communities across the United States.

JOSEPH GRANT - Artisitc Director

A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Artist Joseph C. Grant, Jr., grew up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, New York and is the youngest of 11 children. Creative and talented at a young age, he attended New York’s High School of Art and Design where he studied Art, Photography, and Media Production. After attending New York Technical College for marketing, he would eventually return to his love of Fine Art.As a young man, Joseph was deeply influenced by the works of Ernie Barnes and Norman Rockwell. Today, his hallmark is fanciful, elongated figures with exaggerated hands and feet. His unique approach to the human form embodies sports figures, Jazz themes, dancers and images reminiscent, of his childhood in Brooklyn. Although skilled in various mediums, it is Joseph’s use of acrylics and oils, mixed with his vivid imagination that makes this body of work an insightful and colorful depiction of life in the inner city.The energetic movement in his works and his unique interpretation of the human form has been attributed to his many years as a dancer and football player.Numerous Art Collectors, including comedian Bill Cosby, “Like It Is” founder and TV host, the late Gil Nobel and NBA, Detroit Piston’s All Star, Isiah Thomas have all acquired paintings from this enchanting body of work.In addition to being an accomplished artist, Joseph is also a respected author and filmmaker, a magazine publisher, and a youth mentor. In 2007 Joseph founded the Arts To Literacy Initiative. Through his innovative Arts To Literacy programs, Joseph continues to teach filmmaking, self-publishing, as well as art, to at risk children of all ages throughout Brooklyn and Miami.Over the years, Joseph has received considerable press and media attention for his Fine Arts and Community works. He has been the recipient of numerous commissions and awards.Currently Joseph is creating an artistic retrospective of the historical black firemen of America, spanning from the 1800’s to the present, titled “We Didn’t Start The Fire.”

DR. SHERRILYN SCOTT- Chief Program Director

Dr. Scott  is a graduate of  Florida A and M University in Tallahassee, Florida earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. In 2002, she earned a Masters’ degree in Reading and in 2008, she earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership, from Nova Southeastern University, Davie, Florida.  After serving as a social studies teacher at the Juvenile Justice Center, Dr. Scott entered the administrative ranks by working as an Administrative Assistant at the 500 Role Model Academy of Excellence school. Dr. Scott was given the opportunity to serve as a District Administrator and appointed to serve on the State of Florida African American History task force. She has been instrumental in supporting literacy by partnering and networking with several organizations, colleges/universities (Miami-Dade College, University of Phoenix, Saint Thomas University, Florida Memorial University) and corporations, such as Office Depot, McDonald’s, and Pepsi-Cola.  These partnerships assist in not only promoting literacy but also helping needy families prepare for the beginning of school throughout South Florida. She has led several community projects, but at the center of her heart is her annual “Back to School” community giveaway event which she has coordinated for the past seven years.  This event has provided over 5,000 families with school supplies, health information and services, and community outreach information for parents. The latest Back to School event focused on STEaM,  science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. Dr. Scott recognizes the importance of not only bringing sports figures to highlight excellence and success, but bringing science specialist’s, educators, and world renowned artists to the community in order to enlighten and encourage today’s youth to pursue educational excellence. Even having achieved these goals, she yet feels that the best is yet to come.

SHAVETT DANIEL- Administration Director / Director of Nursing

Shavett Daniel holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing and has worked as a Registered Nurse for over 16 years. She has served as RN Case Manager at various hospitals and clinics, provided psychiatric rehabilitation treatment on assertive community treatment teams, and has worked as the Director of Nursing for well known agencies.  She was a nursing professor for 5 years at a university in Atlanta, Georgia and developed a passion for educating nurses in all areas of the profession. Ms. Daniel has held a membership at the American Society of Registered Nurses and has always been compassionate with a caring heart, which led to her volunteering thousands of community hours at homeless shelters to enrich the lives of homeless men, women, and children.  She taught preventive measures with those infected with HIV/AIDS while also working with programs for teen girls to aid in avoidance of unintended pregnancy, nurtured new teenage moms, and educated on how to care for themselves as well as their new born baby.   Her personal experience with domestic violence, and through women she has cared for, also gives her a closer connection with victims of domestic violence. She has devoted much of her life to helping heal others; not just physically, but mentally, and has successfully empowered and mentored thousands through her self-development entrepreneurial trainings since 2005.  Ms. Daniel is excited to bring her skill set through nursing and self-development, and also her personal testimonies in helping to develop the youth of the 21st century. Serving others is one of her life's greatest privileges.

DR. CASSANDRA WANZO- Psychiatrist

Dr. Cassandra Wanzo is a highly experienced psychiatrist working for over two decades.  She received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.  She completed medical studies at the University of Wisconsin and her Psychiatric residency at Saint Vincents Medical Center in New York City.  She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and has served as a member of the American Psychiatric Association Committee on Religion and Psychiatry.  
She has been helping individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, women's issues and lifestyle management.  Dr. Wanzo has been frequently quoted as an expert source by a variety of publications such as Upscale Magazine and Heart and Soul Magazine.  Dr. Wanzo’s column, The MindBodySpirit Connection is also featured in the Girlfriends Health Guide Magazine.  She also has been quoted in the book Lets All Get High, by Olympic gold medalist Derrick Adkins. She is a contributor to “Where Did Our Love Go...Love and Relationships in the African-American Community”.  As an Atlanta Psychiatrist, Dr. Wanzo incorporates multiple techniques and treatments and psychiatric interventions to help resolve the emotional challenges holding patients back in their lives.  Her supportive and non-judgmental psychotherapy encourages individuals to reach their full potential.  Dr. Wanzo specializes in Affective Disorders, Addictive Disorders, Psychopharmacology, Women’s Issues and Transcultural Psychiatry.  Dr. Wanzo believes addressing the MindBodySpirit connection is essential to the healing process.

CLEMENTE CASSEUS- Athletic Director & PRICE - Mentor

Clemente Casseus was born in Grand Bahamas Island on March 8, 1993. Casseus found a home in America when his mother moved he and his siblings to Lauderhill, Florida in 1999. Fifi Charles, Casseus’s mother, was a single mother that worked 3 to 4 jobs to keep food on the table for him and his siblings. Though not finically wealthily Fifi instilled the importance of God, faith, love, family, and respect within her children. But The absents of his mother, due to several time-consuming jobs, led Casseus to find guidance from friends and the streets of Lauderhill. He attended high school at Everglades High School in Miramar, Florida where he became a dual-threat athlete in both football and wrestling. Earning several accolades and honors, Casseus received football scholarships from Memphis and Marshall University. He decided to walk-on to the University of Cincinnati due to their commitment and dedication towards him although he didn’t have a scholarship from them. Facing several coaching change year after year, Casseus had to prove his value to the team and to the coaches each year. Casseus played on the team as a walk-on until earning a scholarship from a new coaching staff in Tommy Tuberville. With 4 defensive coordinators and 4 position coaches each year; Casseus worked his way up the depth chart with his play and special teams value. Casseus later earned a starting job his senior as the Middle Linebacker and became a team leader. Adversity hides in choices that can turn around your future.  Casseus experience this first hand that impacted his senior year; therefore he has committed his life experience to help change the next generation into making better life choices. Casseus believed his upbringing as a youth made him into the hard-working and humble person he is today.
